UNC vs Villanova

The National Championship game will have number one seed North Carolina Tarheels take on number two seed Villanova Wildcats.The Wildcats had there way on Saturday when they beat Oklahoma 95-51. The Tarheels had a bumpy first have but a much better second half when they beat Syracuse 83-66. The Wildcats had a big night behind the three point line when they shot 11-18. They were led by junior forward Kris Jenkins behind the three point line who went 4-7 and finished the night with 18 points.The Heels on the other hand dominated in the second half inside with there duo of senior forward Bryce Johnson and sophomore Justin Jackson both finishing with 16 points. Villanova needs to stop Johnson and Jackson inside of they want a chance to win a National Championship for the first time since 1985. While the Heels have to stop the Wildcats three points shots to win there first National Championship since 2009 when they had Tyler Hansbough, Danny Green,Ty Lawson, and Bobby Frasor. 11 years ago today North Carolina won there first National Championship under Coach Roy Williamswheb the Heels had Sean May, Raymond Felton, Wes Miller, and Marvin Williams. The Heels beat Illinios that year 75-70. I think it's going to be a close game but I think the Tarheels will win because the Wildcats don't have enough Depth inside to keep up with the Heels big guys.

Final Four UNC vs. Syracuse

The last number one seed University of North Carolina Tarheels will take on one of their ACC foe number ten seed Syracuse Orange. The Orange are the first number ten seed to make it to a Final Four game in tournament history. The Cuse had a bumpy season not knowing if they were going to even make the tournament. The Tarheels has beat the Orange twice already this season, with two close games. Marcus Paige and Bryce Johnson for the Heels need to have a big game and Johnson has to stay out of foul trouble early in the game. Michael Gbinije for the Orange is their leading scorer for the year and has to stay out of foul trouble and stop Johnson in the paint. It's hard for a team to beat a team three times in one season. The real question is will the Heels beat the Orange to make it to the Championship game?

Miami vs Villanova

Number 2 seed Villanova Wildcats will face in the Sweet 16 number 3 seed Miami Hurricanes on the first of four games on Thursday night. Both teams have had a strong tournament so far. The Wildcats have held off both previous opponents by at least 20 points. While the Hurricanes looked strong in both games only beat their opponents by an average of 7.5 points much closer game then Villanova. While the Hurricanes are led by their star guard senior Angel Rodriguez, who average 26 points in the last two games. Like the Hurricanes the Wildcats are led by their star guard senior Ryan Arcidiacono. Arcidiacono averaged 15 points the last two games. While both of these two teams are strong team, I think its going to come down to the last few minutes of the game. Both teams have to stay out of foul trouble especially their star guards. I believe that Miami can hang with Villanova the whole game but I don't think they will be able to pull this off. But this years tournament has been full of upsets so who knows who will win.

UNC Wilmington vs Duke

UNC Wilmington  Seahawks(25-7) are coming into March Madness as the 13th seed when they take on today the number 4th seed in the West Region the Duke Blue Devils (23-10). The Seahawks are coming off winning their conference tournament, the Colonial Conference. While the Blue Devils lost early in the ACC Tournament to Notre Dame. A few years ago Blue Devils went out early in the tournament to the underdogs Leigh. While this is the first time in the tournament for the Seahawks since 2006. The Seahawks are led by two transfer players, Chris Flemmings and Denzel Ingram. While the Blue Devils are led by Grayson Allen. The Seahawks have only one win in the tournament ever and look to get another one today when they face the Blue Devils.

Since its that time of the year again. I will be breaking up each match up and giving you the facts and who I think will win the big game.

A Little bit about me

Hi! I am Jess and a Senior at Slippery Rock University studying Journalism. I took New Media Journalism. I am interested in more of the Broadcast side of journalism and also the digital side. I took this New Media Journalism class to learn a little more about how else social media is used with digital journalism. I think this class is going to be interesting because we write more blog post and to use social media to help other people view our ideas.

I was a social media intern for the last year at Root Sports. I was in charge of looking on Twitter for different hashtags and picking different tweets for them to use in game. I enjoyed everyday when I was at Root I learn so much of how to be a great sports reporter. I miss this internship a lot and wouldn't mind one day working at a place like that.

I also got another great opportunity last year by going to London for spring break with the university to learn about how their media is different than the way we have it here. Spending a week a big city like London I learned that their were many similar tactics but also many different tactics that they use to publish their news.

I use social media everyday for the most part. My Twitter page has everything about sports. I retweet or tweet about all kinds of sports. My Facebook page I am on everyday. I am on  their mostly to keep in touch with all my family and friends since I have family all across the country.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is the traditional news outlet where I mostly get my news especially my local news. I go on their website frequently to get my local news and everything I need to know about the three major sports teams in Pittsburgh. I think they are an accurate news paper and keeps their website up to date and easy to navigate.

The  non-traditional news outlet I go to a lot is Yahoo. I go one Yahoo if their is any big national news story that I am following and I go on their to check about different sports. I use yahoo sports a lot for all  my fantasy teams news.

Thats about all the interesting stuff about me. Hope that was a good way to start the semester.
